TR_Factions Discussion

There is a lot of discussion surrounding this Plug-in which comes (optionally) with Tamriel Rebuilt. In short, what TR_Factions does is it adds to some Factions reputation levels for raising in the ranks if you want to play both TR and Vanilla (Vvardenfell-based) guild/faction questlines. It also connects the main quests more to TR. Find more explanations and TR_Factions makes it harder to advance and you need to constantly travel between TR and Vanilla so you can get more quests and achieve the highest rank in a faction (aka "finish" a faction). What I found out from testing:

  • A TR (mainland) only character (does not do faction quests in Vvardenfell) can do quests in TR (Mainland) even after becoming top rank in the faction (aka a Temple Patriarch cleaning rats in the basement). However:

    • A character which achieved top rank in Vvardenfell will get locked when trying to ask for more quests in TR without TR_Factions Plugin

    • If you achieve top rank with TR_Factions Plugin, a character can still get locked on Vvardenfell where NPCs might not offer faction quests to the leader of their faction. This should be rare though. The other way around does not lock you (TR factions will still give quests to leader)

This will of course change as TR releases updates and integrates the vanilla and TR content more.

Tl;DR:

⇒ Use TR_Factions if you want to play both Vvardenfell and TR factions questlines

⇒ Do not use TR_Factions if you want to play just TR mainland factions questlines and/or you want to avoid rethreading Vanilla content; this will make faction quest progression a slog

As I recommend you install it during mod phase, you can simply enable/ disable the TR_Factions plugin from MO2 Right Panel before starting a new character. Disabling/enabling the plug-in mid game is not recommended, so choose depending on the above and below information

TR_Factions is highly recommended on some characters such as Telvanni builds; but again, it is optional and it leads to more time investment. See my for some suggestions
